Hey there,
I would like to thank you for performing for our troupes in Iraq. I can not tell how wonderful it is to see the faces of our young enjoying the blues. What better way to expose them to our American roots music and to see them relax and have some fun. I have a son over there and feel so appreciative of your efforts. Michael, I will be seeing you soon to give you a big hug in person at your show in Topeka, Kansas at Uncle Bo's.
Thanks again,
Suki

Hi Michael,
Saw you in at the Marians Jazzclub in Bern last Friday. Started with House of the Rising Sun and finished with Fire and Water (both terrific), and in between 1 1/2 hours of wonderful blues music. Myself and I am sure the others there that night (and the other nights) hope you will come back again to Bern! Peter

Hi! I hope you are having a great time in Bern!! I was sitting in front of Popcorn last Sunday flying from Atlanta to Zurich and I'm planning to go tonight to Bern and enjoy your concert with some friends of mine. Looking forward to enjoy your Music tonight! Cinthya
Greetings Michael --
God is good. I was pleasantly surprised to hit your site today, and memories of the past flooded my heart. You may not remember me, but I played with "Little Guitar Pickett" for about three years, and I actually stayed in the motel next to Keystone. I also played at your club in Camden a few times prior to leaving Arkansas, and I remember the one-way dirt road to the club!. Moreover, I also had the pleasure of working with your brother Fred again once I relocated to Los Angeles during the late 70's and 80's. He and I played together with Bobby Womack, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Pacific Gas and Electric, and Smoked Sugar -- to name a few. Needless to say, we stayed busy. Fred and I also worked with a band called "Starlight Pacific" , and we toured Japan with them (Osaka was our base).
I also a member of a group called "Homegrown Funk" that were originally from Memphis. I actually took Steve Potts' place in the band, who I found out also played with you for a moment. Small world man...!
I eventually moved to Atlanta in 1995, where I currently reside.
Just wanted to say "hi", and to let you know that I, too, thought you were a prodigy "back in the day", and am proud of the fact that you did eventually become a "world class" musician. RIGHT ON! If you get the opportunity, say "hi" to your brother for me. It's been a long time.
Continued success, and if you are in the Atlanta area, look me up. It would be great to see you.
Peace

Hey Michael,
We saw you last weekend at the San Francisco Blues Festival and you knocked our socks off! When you were playing one of your songs my sister looked at me and said "Now that's the real blues"! Amen!
I had heard about you from a fellow blues lover. He saw your recent show at Biscuits & Blues and said that you brought the house down. You are an incredible talent...not only a gifted guitar player but you have a fabulous voice and stage presence! I hope you'll be back to the West Coast soon. I'll keep a watch on your tour dates.
Safe travels and thank you for keeping the blues alive!
Peace, Jan
Hi Michael,
Hope all is well with you. I was working in Marketing at the Colorado Belle and Edgewater when you last performed in Laughlin during the Blues Festival and River Run. Now I am working at the corporate office in Las Vegas. I am still involved with the Laughlin properties, but I am also involved with a new resort the owners are building, the M Resort.
The M Resort is located on the corner of St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Blvd. We are due to open March 1, 2009. Anyway in addition to preparing for our opening we are also looking at doing some festivals, the first being a Blues Festival in April 2009. We don’t have a date set yet for the Las Vegas Blues festival, but would like to have you as one of our artists. I know Laughlin is working on doing a Blues Festival over Easter weekend along with the River Run so we are going to take those dates into account when planning our festival.
In the past I had worked through John Earl to book you in Laughlin, but at this time I am not sure if we will be including John on the lineup, thus my reason for sending you the email. I have contacted Chris Hiatt about performing and he has shown an interest. We are still reviewing other possible artists. At this time I need to see if you would be interested in performing at the M Resort during April. Over the next few weeks I’ll work on getting a definite date and will keep you updated on the progress.
Here is a link to the M Resort web site to familiarize yourself with the property http://www.themresort.com/
Take care,
Christine

Michael,
Great show at Famous Dave’s in Minneapolis July 31st!!!
You are an awesome live performer!
It was great to get to talk with you. The New Disc, “Iron Man”, is fabulous! “Empty Promises” hit me like a brick! This is a great song. It hurts, hurts like hell – but it’s my story, I love the fact that your voice and guitar told it so well! You are a wonderful talent and I hope to get to see you again on stage! Thank you for a great evening’s entertainment!

I heard your show at Biscuit & Blues was terrific. I missed it, but was invited by Popcorn. I hope to catch your show on September 23rd in San Francisco, CA. I even heard pieces of your CD and cant wait to bring friends out and see and hear your band. I have already marked my calander for this event. I even see you are schedule to play at our San Francisco Blues Festival. That's how I knew you all will be in town. That when I went to your website and seen you would be at Biscuit & Blues downtown again. Hope to see you soon. Sincerely, BJ Harris, San Francisco, CA
Hey Michael,
I enjoyed your show at the Pocono Blues Festival in Pennsylvania on July 26, 2008. It was a great day and you had the audience moving. Just wanted to ask from one guitar player to another, what effects do you use and how do you get your sustain ? Perhaps you could share your setup on your website. If only I could get your sound. Keep on making great music. The Blues will never die !
Brian
Hello,
I'm pleased to learn that Michael will be in San Francisco in Sep. for that city's blues festival and am trying to convince Bob Littell (the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.'s booker for music in their Big Room) to bring him to Chico, as long as he's on the West Coast.

I've see Michael twice (Santa Cruz, Sacramento) where he's shared the bill with others and would really like to see him & his band play at length!
I also review music. Here's a link to my review of Michael's latest CD as it appears in the July 3 edition of the Chico News & Review, a local free weekly.

I'm sure if you contact them they'd let you use it in your publicity. I also reviewed his earlier CD, Make it Rain in Blues Access # 46, Summer 2001. See attached. (Too bad the one you are using has so many typos.)
Cheers,

It was well worth the time and effort. AMAZING show. He played for 2 hours! He walked in the crowd playing a wireless guitar. What a performance. Was Alittle dis he did not perform "Empty Promises" or"Ashes in the ashtray", but I am not complaining. The show was FANTASTIC!! Hope to see Michael and band perform in Omaha someday. THANK YOU for keeping the blues music alive and well.
Joe, Omaha, NE. jmanania@gmail.com
Dear Michael and band, Thank you all so much for the incredible show at Pinnacle Mountain State Park tonight. For the past few years, life has been very challenging for my wife and I, but we laid our burdens down for three hours as you played tonight. Your music was a wonderful gift to us, and we hope to see you in other Arkansas state parks in the future.
Blessings to you all,
Steve and Cindy from Little Rock
Michael,
The new album is great! Wish you'd come out and play in Portland Oregon. I plan to start harassing the local classic rock station to start playing your stuff, because it's "Rocking" cannot be denied!

Mike, I was able to catch your last two shows in Charlotte, NC (Double Door Inn) and in Hillsboro, NC (Blue Bayou). Previously I have only seen you perform in an outdoor setting. Seeing the Ironman in an up close and personal setting was a real treat ! Best show I've been to in years. I was glad to hear you play "Snake Eggs", one of my favorites! Maybe next time you are in NC, you can Put a Root on us. I love the new album, it's been in my player for 4 days now. The songs and sound quality are top notch. Wayne, I love the piano on "Quiet Little Town". Look out Billy Powell. Any plans on dragging a piano on the road? The soothing sound of the old B3 sounded great as usual. Don, you are a fantastic bass player ! The notes on the 5 string were always tight. You and Popcorn form a rhythm section that brings out the BEST in Mike. Popcorn, how often do you have to replace your cymbols? From the looks of it, I think you flattened one out !! I'm looking forward to seeing you all of you again. Best of luck, Tony

Michael,
I ordered a copy of your new cd, one of the autographed cds from Alligator, and just listened to it today. All I've got to say to Alligator is: You finally did right by Michael! Man, having you and your own band on cd is perfect. This cd should totally bust you out; it sounds great!! Good luck with it, and we'll be looking forward to your next trip into BBs JB&S.
Oh, if you're ever looking for new songs to play live just for a little fun, try out ZZ Top's "Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell" from their Rio Grande Mud album. I think you and Wayne could have a lot of fun with that one.
Sincerely,
Lee H.

Jacksonville was so great! I still feel the music even two days later especially at Mojo’s jam – it was a rare treat to see you & Jason Ricci & Lil Ed with Shane Dwights band all on the same stage right in front of me. It looked like ya’ll were all having a ball too and the sound was incredible.
I am enjoying your new CD, another good one for my collection!
Hope to see you again in Jackson, MS – 931 Café – that’s the kind of juke you really shine in and well worth the road trip.

Hi Michael
I hear for the first time of your music in a homepage from a musicstore in here. I was listening your latest album (Iron Man) that will come soon. It is absolutly fantastic, because your voice and the blues rock are a very good combination. I'm really surprise about your songs, they are all great of them (12 songs). Hopefully you would like to come for one time to the jazz festival to Montreux (Switzerland). If you have never been there, it would be a great experience! Well anyway I will sale your latest great album soon.
Make more music like this!!!! It's just great!
Chris
Michael,
Good to see the new CD is finally coming out. Mine is on it's way, of course! I see the tour is going to Maryland. I hope you keep heading north and play Chan's again....or Black Eyed Sally's. I live somewhere between them and I WILL be where ever you show your mug!
See you soon, Ken
Thank you, Michael, for making my last evening in St. Louis AMAZING!!! I searched for a blues bar on the internet before I flew down on a conference and BB's came up, so on March 29th I walked into a bar that was absolutely rocking. When I asked a guy standing at the door if there was some great music inside, he told me I was in luck because I was about to hear the greatest blues guitarist - he turned out to be a fellow Canadian and he was right on. You and your band just blew me away!!! What a drag that I'd have to travel thousands of miles to see you play again. There's got to be a way to get you up to play up here and bring those hot Southern style blues to Canada. I haven't been able to stop talking about your show all day and I certainly plan on making sure it won't be the only time I see you live. Your talent may be in your hands, but your music is in your heart, body and soul.
Leni

Hey Michael...
Just got home from the BluesCruise last night, and my head is still spinnin'.....
But out of all the great acts that were on the ship, I'd have to say that you were the one that really got my attention the most. I missed you at the Crow's Nest, but caught you on the pool deck.....you goin' out into the crowd playin' was a blast!! I told you after that show that you reminded me of Freddie King, and I meant it. It wasn't because Scrap Iron said it after the show.....I told a friend of mine the same thang while you were playin'.....
Hope you had a good time on the cruise, and plan on makin' it again. I know I do.....
I'd love to see you hit Pittsburgh.....the Rex would be a great venue for you.
Thanks again for a great show,
Jim
Hi Michael

I would like to do a 20 to 25 minute podcast on you and your music. Mark Kerr you may know from "Mark Kerr's Blues Nation" podcast. Past your name on to me in an interview I did with him for a show I be airing this Thursday on him. When asked who he is listening to now a days your name cane up. The funny thing is I had emailed Alligator about being able to play your songs a week before and got no response. When making a link for the post on Mark Kerr on you I found your website.
I think my audience would really like your style of the blues.
Is it possible to email you some questions I'd use in the podcast and at the website. This could be a good chance to get some FREE PR for you and your cd.
Hope I can bring some new ears to Michael,

Hey Michael, Wayne, Don, Popcorn !! What a show at the Blue Bayou in Hillsborough !! It's the 1st time I was able to see you INDOOR. The sound was great !! Last time I saw you was at the Blues Festival in Durham and at Louie's 25th Anniversary at Gaston Lake (What a party !). I was more familiar with YOUR music since purchasing your albums. Looking forward to the next release ! The band sounds awesome. You can really tell when all of you find the groove. Wayne glad to see you again. The old B3 still has that unmistakable sound no new keyboards can match. Don glad to meet you. You and Popcorn make a great rhythm section which brings out the BEST in Michael. Michael, what can I say, what incredible leads. Loved the ending of "The Sky is Crying" and was glad to hear "Soulshine". The previous comments were right on. You guys really sounded good. Have fun on the Blues Cruise !! I wish I was going...it's 28 degrees here today and windy..See you next time when you are in N.C. Tony Delbridge
Michael: It has been a very long time since you have released a CD. Is there a new CD in the works?

March 10, 2007’s performance at Buddy Guy’s Legends was terrific! You are an incredible talent! To see some images now, go to www.russlowe.blogspot.com and check out the posts on March 12 and March 15, 2007.

Michael,
Hey, I just saw your set at Buddy Guy's in Chicago Saturday night. I absolutely loved it! (I was the guy front and center that had the jacket with all the buttons and pins on it) I don't think I have ever in my life seen a group of musicians look like they are having so much fun on stage. I just had to leave a not on your webpage to let you know that you've inspired me to pick up the guitar now. Thanks for playing great music!
Elijah Moreland
Hi Michael...just wanted to send you a thank you for your awesome performance at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago last weekend. Nonstop music...one great selection after another...incredible! Your music sent shivers down my spine. And the soul...you don't just stand in front of an audience and sing...you feel your music...you can see it in your face. My friend and I made the right choice that night.
Take care...a long-time blues fan...a new Michael Burks fan.
I attended you're show at the Kalamazoo State Theatre on March 9th. The whole thing was amazing. I enjoyed you're soulful guitar playing and choice of music. I especially enjoyed you're organ player, the beautiful sound of that old organ really sends chills down you're spine in the ballads. You're rendition of Little Wing was an awesome performance and the crowd really enjoyed it. My favorite tune of the night was Soulshine. Again, that organ really hit it out of the park and made the song amazing. I'm hoping that you release Soulshine soon on an album because that was the best version of that song i've ever heard. Also, many bands don't play well in live performances, but you guys really played extremely well. Thank you for the great performance.
-Tom Eldred

Michael,
I was at Darwin's (Marietta, Ga.) for your last set last night (Sat. 02-10-2007;) I was the one with a camera going the entire set. I've rarely experienced such fine blues; Hubert Sumlin got to me as much as you did, and Sean Costello's managed it a few times, but that's about it. The power of, and the emotion in, your and your band's playing was phenomenal. I wish all and only the best for you and the band.
I'll let you know when the photographs and videos are ready.
Thank you for your music,
Ellen Hamby (http://www.MySpace.com/ellens_eyes)
Hi Michael, I Saw you play at the El Dorado, Arkansas Musicfest 06 I was at the front row with the black cowboy hat on. Man I loved your playing I mean I could feel your music it was the best night of my life I hope you could come back to musicfest and moan the blues again thank you

Michael,
Came across your music throught The Roadhouse Podcast. Wow, you put out fantastic sound. After I heard you for the first time on the Roadhouse, I immediately purchased both of your CDs. Listen to them all the time. Have turned on my friends to your music and they have purchased it also.
Tell me, how do I get a copy of your first CD? Sounds like a great one also.
From your guestbook, sound like you are a fantastic performer. Would love to see you. Live in the Northwest and I do not see any dates for the Oregon or Washington area. Please keep me posted if you are in the area. Would hate to miss you. If you are planning on doing another blues cruise please let me know. I have heard that these cruises are fabulous.
Again, can you let me know how I can purchase a copy of your first CD.
Thanks

Michael:
I really enjoyed hearing you on the Blues Cruise. I hope you are going next year. I had never heard you live before, and I was riveted by your performances. I was fortunate enough to meet and chat with Don Garrett. He is a very nice guy and a hell of a bass player. It seems like you don't come to the West Coast very much, so it looks like my wife and I will be making a run to Laughlin when you perform there. We would love to see you down here in Southern California sometime. Keep up the good work and the great music.
Sincerely,
Karl
Hey
Met you and your guitarist, don on the recent blues cruise and he thought you might be coming out to California to Cozy’s club in Los Angeles. Don’t see that on your tour schedule. Any time soon???

I'm looking forward to a new Alligater release later this year, I hope. I'm still hoping to find "Inside Out." I've been enjoying the blues for sixty years, there are many, many greats out there. Just wanted to restate I enjoyed the show & look forward to you coming back into town. (I'll see if I can drag my wife along next time.) I'll check your website for tour updates. See you next time!Michael, I just wanted to give you props for your success. You used to tell me you would make it in this business. I know it’s been a tremendous amount of hard work and a true commitment. It looks like your future is BRIGHT! Give me a shout sometime when you are in the Little Rock area. Mike Thomason (we worked together in Camden in the ‘80’s)

Michael,
You have just added Don Garrett to your band as your bass player. I have known him for more than thirty five years and I can tell you that he is one of the finest people I have ever known and probably the best rythm and blues bass player in the mid south.
He is also my best friend. I know that I can trust his judgement and musical opinion, and I trust him explicitly.
You are probably the finest blues player I have ever heard, and I wish you and Don the very best.
I know that your abilities will soon cause you to be known worldwide.

Hello Michael, this is Jacob Hiser. My brother and I jammed with you down at Hopson's. I heard you were in Springfield a couple of weeks ago. Sorry we couldn't be there; we had a gig that night, too. Next time you're in the area, we'll come to see you (if we don't have a gig ourselves).
Thanks,

Hey Micheal,
This is Derek McCasland, the singer from Ten Years Gone. We opened for you a couple years back at River Woods in Camden, AR. Loved watching you pour your soul out, man. And now I see that you are comming back to town on the 13th of May. Can't wait to see you. As a matter of fact, I have really nice demo of this new Blues band I sing for called Detox & The Shakes, along with a press kit that we are about to send to Alligator. I'd love to send you a copy if you are interested. I think you would enjoy it. And it couldn't hurt at all to get some tips from a pro like yourself. Also, if you don't have anyone to open the show for you on the 13th, we wold love to be that band. The guys and I have been talking a lot about that actually, but I didn't know who to get in touch with, so I figured, "hell, talk to the
man himself." Anyway, let me know if you would be interested in that cd.
Take care, and keep on keepin' on. Can't wait to hear you play again.
--Derek (Detox & The Shakes)
ps. Bo, Cathy, Tracy, Blaine, and Todd all said to say hello
I am looking for some mention of Amps and pedals used by Mike and I would think he would like to give credit to those that help tailor his "voice" but hmm..... where is it???
We are so excited that you are going to play at MusicFest in El Dorado! We'd like to try to do something around this to celebrate at our new El Dorado store. How about a CD signing? or a 'Meet and Greet'???
We know that you're busy after you play Friday night but what about BEFORE you play????
We're going to try to reach you on the phone but if e-mail is more convenient, here we are (see above).
By the way, I still have your guitar case from years and years ago! One day they'll want it in the Smithsonian.
Hope to talk to you soon.

Hello -
I took some photos of Michael at a performance in Santa Ana awhile ago and was wondering if you'd like to use them on his web site? You can tell Michael I'm a friend of Claude von Trotha's - which is why I was there shooting that night.
If you decide to use them please just credit me as you have your other photos.
Thanks!

Hey Michael,
I was on vacation in Helena Sat. night and heard you guys. Great stuff!! I'm a producer from Brashear, TX and would like to produce a couple of songs at my studio. You can check out some of the artists I've produced at www.studiooutback.com. Most of the "hits" I recorded in the past were in the Tex-Mex market. Only one group I produced from the 70's had a hit, Toby Beau was the group and "Angel Baby" was the song from RCA. You can reach me via email at prw@softfiles.com or via tel at (903) 485-2535. I played drums for the "Bad Habits" back in the 50's and Jerry Kattawar and I went on to play with Jimmy Luke (formally one of the original Hawks from Ronnie Hawkins & the Hawks). I say all this to let you know I'm serious. I've been a recording engineer and producer for 40 years and I specialize in vocals. Being a drummer many years ago, I like to get a killer drum sound as well.
I'm also the US distributor for D&R Consoles for the last 20 years. My studio (located 70 miles East of Dallas near I-30) has the latest and greatest equipment. I do not use Pro Tools. I use Samplitude v9 Professional, Apogee Converters, Parasound Power Amps, Yamaha Tyros keys, Ivory Plugins, UAD Plugins and much more.
Maybe you could stop by on your way to Ft. Worth this month for a visit.
Thanks,
Paul Westbrook

Four years ago I met my now fiance. The first time we were "romantic" your song "Don't let This Be a Dream" was playing. On August 6th, I proposed when that same song came on the radio, courtesy of the Blues Review and Old Harv on WVPE_fm. That will also be our song when we get married in December. We hope to see you this Saturday in Elkhart, IN, at the Island Blues fest.
Hi Michael,
I just wanted to say what a fan I have become of yours, a friend let me borrow his CD of "I smell smoke" and I can't stop playing it.
I play a little guitar and man I love your stuff, it is from the heart and that's the way I play so your stuff is so inspiring to me, I can't thank you enough for what you do.
How can we get you out in Montana, we need some good Blues up here in Kalispell, Montana.
Hope I get to see you someday.

Hello,
I saw Michael Burks Just last Sunday in my little town of Mishawaka,In. AT a little neighbor hood tavern. The Midway. And let me tell you, Michael was GREAT!!! I could not believe my eyes and ears. I was awestruck. The last time I enjoyed a blues artist like that was when I saw Albert King at Notre Dame in South Bend. Indiana. This was a truly great show. He played for close to 5 hours. The break in between was a dream come true for me because I got Michael 's autogaph and the autographs of all the band. They are all great people. Really unique and genuinely nice in nature. Just like talking to a friend. So, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed a great blues singers show here in our little town. Thank you for listening. ~~RAY~~

Michael!!!,
I just heard the good news that you're FINALLY going on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise with us. Every time I had a chance to talk to Roger I was asking him to get you on board. You were one of the top requests on the Cruise message board. You coming into the audience at Pocono and playing "Don't Let It Be A Dream" for us is the all time highlight of any blues experiences we've ever had. Mary-Beth and I hope to see before the cruise, but if not --- take care and know we'll be up front screamin' for you!
Kevin "Keb'Man" Inman 3/16/06
warmest wishes from r e a l l y coldest Siberrria!
Dear Michael.
How are You now? I hope You are fine! As You know, we are very small FM station, but we have most and only blues radio show here! So will You be so kind to send any one promo copy of Your CD? Because it will be very important and invaluably for us and for our audience –
once again touch Your creation, touch Your blues...

This is Bronco Bob www.broncobob.net recently I became a big M.B. fan !
Recently I recorded your song "got a way with women"...you sound great and motivated me to add this to my upcoming 5th cd. I need to find out who wrote this song and who is the publists? I want to file the correct paperwork with Harry Fox Music. Are you the original writer ?
Please advise me to a web site or info page that lists your band members' names...do you ever do gigs with a horn section or backup singers?...recently I recorded with New York City's UPTOWN HORNS I think you'd enjoy these cats.....

What a great show last night at the Lafayette Tap Room in Buffalo, NY! You and the band were absolutely awesome! I can't wait to get the picture that someone took of me with you!! It was the best blues I've heard in quite a while! Thanks so much!

Hi --
I have just e-mailed Pollsater for the second time regarding the mistake in location for Michael's show on March 19, 2006. Holy Wisdom Hall is listed as the venue, but it's closed. I know because I ran it. Michael will be appearing at our new location, which is OLM Hall in Whippany, NJ. If Pollstar doesn't fix this, maybe you could post a correction elsewhere on Michael's site. Contact number 215-847-7218.
Thanks -

Michael,
Thanks to you and the band for a fantastic show at the Canal House. It was so awesome to hear you and the band performing live! I hope to see you and the guys when you come around the area again!
Thanks for the time to talk "technical" about guitars and amps.
I wish you all the best!

My name is Ron Salley. You may recall the guy that used to work at the state park in the Camden AR. Area (White Oak Lake State Park). I now managing a park in Little Rock called Pinnacle Mountain. I remember the times that you played there and what a blast we had.
The reason that I’m writing is to hopefully book you for next year. We are looking at the May 5th, 2007 time frame. If you or a representative could contact me about trying to work this out, I’d appreciate it.
This will be our first effort at a Blues festival and we’d like to have you to headline it!! If you have suggestions for opening acts, we’d like to hear them as well.
3/13/06
SUPER!!!!! We will be there!!! We will be in Topeka to see you at Uncles Bo's.
Topeka is only fifty miles away and on your way to Wichita the next night, you'll be passing within a few miles of our house when you pass by McDonalds on the turnpike near Emporia. You can see the high school where Troy played basketball as you pass by Emporia.
Popcorn, you can tell Troy that the next time you play at Chord On Blues!!
Michael, did you pick the right T-shirts at Knuckleheads?
Michael, I have a special request: Please, can you guys play the songs "Talk to Me Baby" from "Inside Looking Out" one of my favorites and the song "Little Did I Know" is also one of my favorites.
Actually, We think your album "Inside Looking Out" is the best!
However, we love all three albums!
There is not many blues players who can carry on the Albert King blues style as you guys!!!
It will be great seeing/visiting with you guys again....May God Bless all of you!!

My wife and I were catching up with our son in San Francisco in mid January 06, when, after dining at a nearby restaurant, we inadvertently dropped in at Biscuits & Blues and were lucky enough to catch Michael Burks finishing off a terrific blues set.
Unfortunately we came in towards the end, but were nevertheless blown away by his class, and especially with his rendition of, “The Thrill is Gone”.
It all capped what was a terrific “family get” together / night, and we were all high on great blues music when we left the club.
Thanks Michael for the opportunity to enjoy such a great musical treat.

Hi,
I'm a big fan of Michael's and was wondering/hoping if he'd be
willing to toss a couple of his picks in an envelope and shoot them
off to me. It would really mean a lot. Anyway, thanks for both your
time and consideration and here's my address if Michael feels like
shooting a couple picks my way.

Remember Blues Party Schmallenberg / Germany?
OK, here's a little reminder at

That proofs it: Germans also can have the blues, even with a funny

Michael,
Please forgive my showing up late for the party, but I finally caught your CBF set on NPR, I believe from '03 or '04. I was preoccupied cooking and did't notice the music until I saw my labrador playing air guitar out in the yard.
How in the world can I get your live recordings from Chicago? I can no longer settle for Eric Clapton.
Jim Laster 3/4/06
Hey,
Never heard of Michael Burks before, but sat beside "popcorn" on the 1/22/06 flight from Little Rock to Atlanta. What a great guy. I'm ordering I smell smoke now - can't wait to get it. Hope to be in a city near you sometime to hear you for real.

Thanks again for doing it like you do it—I wouldn’t want it any other way !!!!! Ya’ll be safe. I hope to see you soon !! Don and Natalie ( Wayne—thanks for the B3 info. I need to talk with you some more about that. I’ve found a few but haven’t put out any $$$$$ yet).

Dear Mr. Burk
Please excuse my bad English! My name is Bengt and i live in the cold north ! In the small town Enkoping in SWEDEN. I'm a lousy guitar & harmonica player and an even lousier singer!! (I try to practise every day!) I am a great fan of your amazing guitar playing !! To be honest I've never really heard much of you ! (have only bin a fan since 2005!) Until I recently came into the possession of "Make it rain" from a friend in France! I was totally blown away when I for the first time heard your guitar work ! I can listen to that scratched cd-record ten times a day, and it moves me in a different way every time.
What are your plans for the future? I hope you planning to play sometime in Sweden this year? Last but not least how can i get your autograph?
If you ever read this, keep up the good work!!! If you don’t have time to answer I understand ! (I still be your fan)
I wish you prosperity and health! With best regards

DID YOU KNOW WHAT I SAW MICHAEL BURKS DO ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY THAT WAS BETTER THAN THE GAME ITSELF. THIS "MVP" AND HIS ALL-PRO BAND PLAYED NON-STOP FOR MORE THAN THREE HOURS WITHOUT A HALFTIME INTERMISSION ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN MEMPHIS MISSOURI!! That's right-NON-STOP, BUTT-KICKIN', IN YOUR FACE BLUES for more than three hours-OH MY GOODNESS!!
When he finished-my friends and I started the 90 minute drive home when my wife called to tell me to hurry home-the game had started. I had to tell her-I really didn't care--I'd just seen Michael Burks put the performance of the day--WAY TO GO GUY'S!!!
P.S.--I SMELLED SMOKE!!! Until next time,Jerry D & the gang from Quincy IL 2/5/06

I first heard you on the Internet ("Find Me A New Love"). I got the CD immediately. But believe me, the CDs don't do you justice. WHAT A

Thanks to all of you for a great night in Little Rock last week. You were all “right on” as usual. We heard some stuff that we hadn’t heard you do before and that made the night extra special. Thanks, Michael, for playing “Don’t let this be a dream” ----that tune has become “our” song. I see that you are supposed to be in Rogers in January just before you leave for Switzerland. If at all possible, we will be there! Like I told you before, your playing still makes the hair on my neck stand up and I want as much of that as I can get. Be safe guys !!!!! Hopefully we’ll see you soon. Don and Natalie from Malvern, AR. PS. If you do come up with any of the LIVE stuff that you told me about, I would certainly take you up on the offer.
1/1/06
Hey how's it goin' man! WOW! you really know how to let your axe talk. I love the rhythms and solos on I Smell Smoke. I can tell your band is right there with you on every song. Everytime I listen to the blues, It makes me understand more and more how powerful it is. The Blues is one of the only types of music that I know that has so much feeling in it! Anyways, can't wait to see you and your band live in Los Angeles, the 6th of January.
Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12/29/05

Really enjoyed your show last night in Little Rock, I had'nt seen ya perform in a while. This was my first time physically meeting you. Your feel and the way you interpret you songs and solos are amazing. Michael,
How's it going pal? I don't know if you heard that I recently relocated my band to the Atlanta Georgia area from Buffalo for a more fruitfull career. The reason I am contacting you is because, within a few days I will be launching a new web site and I would like to hyper link your site to mine if you would do the same for me? This would surely increase internet trafficking, promote further product sales by the downloadable music and video materiels, and create a circle of viewers between you and the other people that I will connect with.
Just email me back and let me know! 11/13/05
Hi Michael

Hi guys!
It's your favorite stage mom, Katy. I didn't take the cruise ship job after all, so I'm still in Sacramento and can't wait for you guys to get back to the west coast. Sorry I haven't called like I promised, but count on dinner at my house when you come out.
Wayne, I heard a nasty rumor in Reno that you were lost in Katrina, so I'm so glad to hear you and the kids are okay. I am so sorry about your losses, though. Did you lose the B3, too? Or was that on the road? Please, please let me know what I can do to help. You know, I always want to know you're okay.
I'm doing fine and have a job that I love. Look up www.toweautomuseum.org, and you'll see where I'm at. So glad I stayed stateside! John and Popcorn, kisses to you all, too. Michael, I'll call you in the next few weeks just to catch up. (I have your info; it's just buried in my room somewhere-Yikes!) Wayne, I mean it; whatever you need (even a B3 pedal -- HAHA), let me know.
Love, Katy

Hi Micheal,
Looking at your tour schedule, I didn't see any dates in VA. I would recomend the Norva in Norfolk, VA. There are also many appropriate venues in Richmond (like the Canal Club) as well as the DC/Alexandria area. Just putting this out because I would love to see you. I just downloaded "make it rain" from iTunes. Great album.
Thanks,

Hey Michael; Pine Bluff was not the best time for you I’m sure, but you guys pulled off another awesome set. I feel sorry for the people who did not hear you. You were the only real “Headline” act. I tried to send an email to that address you gave us but I guess I remembered it wrong. I’d really like to hear some of that stuff you were telling us about. Drop me a line at dcollins@xpressboats .com or Don and Natalie Collins 497 Jenkins Lane Malvern, Arkansas 72104 We’ll see you in Little Rock in November. Be safe while in Germany. 10/2/05

Michael, John and the rest of the band:
I saw you in Camden when I went to visit Uncle Dan for his B’day party; and I also saw you in Dallas at the Hard Rock for the Blue Shoes project. I so enjoy your music and we have all of your CD’s; but for one. The first one.. ;^) You said you could send me a copy of the first CD,”From the Inside Out!” Well, I’m calling in my card… My brother, JR (Master Sergeant - John Randolph Thornton in the USAF) loves the music also. My plan is to send him the whole CD set for Christmas. I am sending him your CD’s that I already have for Christmas but would love to be able to send the complete set. Sooo…. You can mail it to:
Jean Clark

P.S. Feel free to send two copies if you would like.. ;^) But one would totally make me ecstatic!!!
Hugs,

Best to all,

Michael; I’m sure you hear this often but just had to tell you how much your music means to me. You have lightened my load—the only 2 CD’s I carry around anymore are yours. Stevie Ray, B.B., Eric, all those stay in the cases now. We saw you in Memphis last year and are heading to Pine Bluff this weekend simply because you are going to be there. You still make the hair on the back of my neck stand up--- keep doing that !!!!!!!!!

Hi Michael,
My wife and I are adopted brother and sister of Miki Nord. That being said
I just want you and your band to know how much joy and release you give not
only my wife and I, but all the friends that seem to come by to hear the
blues we play at our house. You can never know how much you guys help us
deal with the on going issues life seems to throw us. I don't know if there
is anything we can do for you but we were able to help out Tommy Castro and
those guys get some better transportation and if it would work out, or your
interested maybe we could do something for you guys. Tommy and Miki will let
you know we have know underlying motives.
All being said I understand how hard it is on you guys and hard it is to get
a head. We wish you guys the best and thank you.

Thanks for the shirt, Mike. I'm so happy you still want to play our wedding, I'll keep watching your tour schedule, so we can plan around it. Don't worry, I'm not in a big rush to marry your baby bro. Wayne, thanks for everything this weekend, you always make things better, luv ya sweetie. Hello Mike.
My wife and I really enjoyed your and the band's performance Saturday night at Poppy Mountain in Morehead, KY. That was us dancing kinda right of center and back a little from the stage. Your slow grooves were too irresistable. We love your sound. I embarassingly did not have enough money when I came up after the crowd had cleared to buy a CD. I am going to your music area now to purchase one now. THANKS! for coming to Morehead and helping make the night a success.

A lot of us have moved to Dallas with Lockheed Martin now, we miss you, you're the best. Just keep doing what you do, you're making a lot of people proud of you and you're making a lot of people happy. Looking forward to your next CD. Your friend Randy Hyman.

Saw you at the Lehigh valley blues festival 7/16 and the band was great. Unfortunately that was me that got called out of the audience just as you were coming on because some drunk hit my vehicle in the parking area. HOWEVER, I could hear you just fine and did get to see Michael walk out in the crowd playing. Also, unfortunately I had to leave early because of the accident which was disappointing because I had driven 3 hours and sat in the rain all afternoon waiting to hear you live I did get to hear little wing/voodoo child b4 I left and it was fantastic. Keep up the great music and hopefully soon I’ll be able to catch you live and stay for the whole show. Meanwhile, I’ll keep playing those cd’s of yours and spreading the word.

Hello
My wife and I saw you guys for the 2nd time in the past 9 months and you were excellent again. You changed your set, which is unique for bands today. Alot of bands play what sounds like a contrived set that vary very little. In the 1st set I was really impressed with the Band of Gypsys " He Knows" and possibly part of "Machine Gun". In the 2nd set SRV's "Texas Flood" kicked ass. You guys did these songs better than anyone else I have heard play them. Thank You all for signing my 8 x 15 photos and Michael for having some CD's on hand. I know the sound man sucks and the stage set up is wierd, but come on back I am ready again. I will make the copies of the photos you requested eventually.

Hello Michael! I was walking to the Summer Arts festival in Omaha Ne. to catch Marcia Ball and was entering from behind the stage where you were just wrapping up a song. I thought who is this guitar player I’m hearing!! The tone of your guitar and your phrasing sounded sooooooo good. By the time I reached the area facing the stage you launched into a really sweet Amazing Grace and then it was over. I was ticked I missed your show. I heard people in the audience later asking others if they were there for Michael Burks show and that your band really put on a good show. Good news is I checked your tour schedule and you’ll be back in Omaha in August. I’ll see you then!!

Michael,
What an incredible performance on Saturday in Eureka!?! That was my daughter's first blues show. The next morning, I popped in a CD and wouldn't you know it...she started bobbing her head to the beat. She's only 4 months! I'm convinced it was all the dancing we did at your show. Thanks for putting the groove in my little girl's soul!

Hi.
I was put in touch with you through the Lehigh Valley Blues Festival.
I work for Bryan Farrish Radio Promotion. We're hired by blues artists to get on-air exposure for their album and live shows. We've worked with Mickey Champion, Al Copley, Martha Reeves and Mark Lemhouse and other quality independent blues, roots and R&B artists.
I'm currently researching bands that would be appropriate for one of our airplay campaigns. If you are considering airplay promotion for your project, let me know if you would like information on how to hire us for a radio PR campaign.
Thanks and good luck,
Johnny

Wish you all could show up a bit earlier than August...we'll keep our fingers crossed...hope you and your families are all doing well...take care, and hope to see you soon...

Hello Michael, Wayne, Popcorn and John!
Thanks for coming up to the northeast to visit us here in Boston! My wife decided to treat me to a show for my birthday, so it was by chance that we saw you play. And what a lucky chance it was! I'm a big fan of guitar playing of all kinds, and I have to say you guys put on a one of the best shows I've ever seen! It's clear that you take your music seriously, and put a lot of energy into it. Playing for two solid hours without a break, even between songs must really take a lot out of you, and we appreciate your effort. I hope to catch you again soon. You should consider playing the Montreal Jazz Festival, if you haven't already. Montreal is a great city, and the festival is a lot of fun.
Take care and keep on playin' the blues!

Michael,
I caught you and your band for the first time at the 930 Blues Cafe in April. Since then, I've almost worn your CD "I Smell Smoke" out playing the thing. You're play guitar the way it's supposed to be played: hot, steamy and full of grit. Unless I'm dead, and I don't have any plans to be, I'll be back at the 930 this month to hear you and the guys again. Keep the Blues Alive,

Hello Michael, Wayne and the Band,
This is Robin (Phil's from FT Myers FL)cousin and
husband Steve. We had a great time yesterday at the
Meriden (CT)Daffidol Fest. It was the best rainy day
we have had. Your music is great and we are glad to
have had the experience of hearing you and your band.
We called Phil as soon as we got home and I told him
to call you. You and the band were as nice as Phil
said you would be when we approached you and Wayne and
introduced ourselves. Phil said you are one of the
nicest blues artist he has met in all his years of
meeting different artists. He is such a blues fan and
has been following it for 30 plus years and has met
many. We will watch for you in this area again and
most definitely will want to be there to see you.
Thanks again. Robin and Steve rrq823@yahoo.com 5/1
Wow!
Thanks for coming to the Meriden Daffodil Festival! If you had not come I would have not known about you. Your style and dedication brings tears to my eyes. You are a serious blues man and with all the different talent out there you ARE THE ONE that one my heart. Keep the music coming because I'll keep buying.

Dear Michael:
How can we get our hands on the "From the Inside Out" CD?
If you can get one for us and bring it to the show at Chan's in Woonsocket RI, we are very interested. Please let me know the cost ahead of time.
We are your biggest fans in this area and cannot wait until you finally appear here. We have waited a long time

Dear Michael:
Have been begging the management at Chan's in RI to get you to appear, and now finally you are scheduled for June. We cannot wait. The video of you at the North Atlantic Blues Festival from last summer is my favorite. Please be sure to play "Ain't no use in cryin'" when you come , it would make the day complete. We will have a large contingent in the front row when you arrive. We go there often enough to get the same seats every time.
Good health and safe travel till we see you.

Michael,
It was good seeing you again in Dallas at the guitar show, it's too bad we didn't get a chance to talk further about the custom guitar we had talked about building when you played in Fort Madison. If you are still interested, let me know and I can get started on it for you.
Best wishes,

Hi guys. It was great seein you all the other weekend. Trav and I heard a band last night. The young guy playing drums was from St.Louis, so on break I told him my favorite drummer was from St.Louis too. I said, do you know Chuck Louden... and he said Popcorn? I'll let you go, just wanted to let you know I was thinkin about you all, and hope you got to spend some time with your families. Thanks Mike for letting Travis jam with you...again. He really looks up to you. Popcorn, I'm still waiting for an e-mail. Wayne, how's things with you? Hi John..Travis had a CD for you and forgot to give it to you.

Hey Michael!
I had the pleasure of hearing you play and meeting you a few years ago in Reno, NV at The Garage. I must say, you ROCK! One of the best blues guitarists I've heard! But now I have a problem. The Doheny Blues Festival is on may 21, 22nd down here in SoCal. You are playing Three Rivers on the 21st, I know they (Omega Events) has room for another performer, I've emailed your agent and I know he's trying to get you in there AND I emailed Omega events earlier requesting you perform; what else can we do to get you here on Sunday??? You are well deserving and MUCH more talented than at least one of the performers appearing Sunday (can't name names but his initials are EB). I'm also copying this to your agent and the president of Omega events. Hopefully we'll see you then!

Hello Michael. So glad we were able to catch you again in Elmira this past weekend. Your marathon performance ( 3.5 hrs.) was incredible! And after talking with you before the show, the way you came right up to our table and jammed away - I can't thank you enough! Your versions of the Santana & Hendrix tunes were among the best I've heard! I'm glad I was able to convince some friends and relatives to come along. They all had a great time too! Hope you are able to return to this area again some time in the near future. Thank you again for a great night of the blues!

Hey Michael. I met you guys at BB's in St. Louis on March 11th, 2005. What a wonderful group of guys. You all signed my 2004 Handy Blues Awards Poster and was very kind about doing that for me. Wayne, Chuck, John and yourself all personalized the poster for me which was quite a treat for an old blues fan. Your version of Voodoo Chile that night was the greatest ever! I remember Popcorn was standing up watching you when you were playing cause he later said he was about to explode and he didn't think you were ever going to quit playing. Which by the way was fine with all of us. What a show. It is very humbling for a fan when the band takes the time to make them feel important, which you all did. The memories created that evening will always be remembered. Thanks again and we will see you next time at the Roadhouse in Wichita KS or back at BB's whichever comes first.
Always a fan, Kim Teter, kteter@pixius.net 3/17/2005

Hello to my favorite blues band. I am so excited that you are playing 20 miles from our house on the 26th. Which direction are you headed after that? Let me know if you all want a home cooked meal...I can't cook worth a darn, but all of my mom's sisters are great and I'm sure they wouldn't mind whippin up something. I'm at my mom's house, she's doing pretty good after the triple bypass heart surgery... I'm mostly just doin cleaning and running errands. Call us when you get close to Ft.Madison so we can hang out before the show. My numbers the same as Trav's except the last four digits which are 1673. I hope Bobbi can make it. Take care you guys and I'll see you in 12 days.

Dear Michael, my name is Buddy Broussard and I am from Baton Rouge La. Having previewed your various cuts that are available on Amazon, I think you are the next greatest thing!!! I am 55 years old and have been listening to Blues for 40 years. I have met B.B. King, Z.Z. Hill, and seen Albert King, Freddie King, Z.Z. B. B. and a host of others over the years. Man, you remind me of Albert King the most with your power playing and your voice! I played old style R&B in and around South Louisiana for 20 years and I started playing the guitar at 33 yrs. old. I wanted to ask you personally about your Delta 88 because the good Dr. won't list any sound clips! Any input from you would be greatly appreciated. Bud out! P.S. my forte in Music was vocals and I still play occasionally with guys like Little Ray Neal from Baton Rouge. Thanks again Bud!

Hey Micheal and da band,
I had a chance to see you play live, and to top it off it was the first time I had ever heard any of your music. Needless to say, I was blown away. You guys are what us younger kids would call the truth. I caught your show in St. Charels, IL, and I was with my old man. We loved the show, and we liked the fact that you talked to us after the show. We talked about the subway lounge and how you played a show with (aint i clean) Rufus Thomas when you were a shorty. Just wanted to say thanks, and keep on playin da blues like you do.
p.s. hope to see you play again real soon!
Salvador Rodriguez email: teeya79@yahoo.com 3/3
When will you be in California. We could use a good dose of your blues right about now. (or anytime for that matter)

Hey Michael!
Hope to catch a show again in the near future. Rick and I are doing well. We never know when would be a good time to catch you at home, so we just talk about getting in touch. Tell Popcorn "Hello!" and that we recently saw Sonny Landreth on his hometurf in Lafayette, LA. What a show! (We'll keep checking your schedule --- my God you guys work hard!) Come see us (as if you have time when you are in Camden) and be careful on the road. We are so happy for you. Kelly and Rick Burson (Oh, yes and Emma too!)

Mr. Burks,
I have a picture CD and several photos that are made from the Melody Ballroom concert in Portland. These puppies turned out fantabulous. I will be placing them in the mail to you this week.
Hoping you guys are doing well, and are enjoying those Cascade Blues Association hats. The website looks great Michael and I hope life is treating you well. You were great and the people love you here in the Great Northwest. Keeping my fingers crossed for the Riverfront Bluesfest during July 4th. Give me a holler sometime.

Hi Mike
First saw you perform in 96-97 at ouachita co. fair and eldorado musicfest. At the time I was married to your dentist's receptionist at camden..I am a amateur guitarist from crossett and she told me that there is someone that I really gotta see....After seeing you perform ,that got me hooked on your style. ...In this day and age of effects and computer aided enhancment of musical recording, its rare to see a group sound as good or better LIVE than recorded...I think the CD "I smell smoke" is great...When ever someone gives me a compliment about my guitar playing and they ask who Influenced me JIMI Hendrix? Santana? I say Hell NAW.. Mike Burks Blues Band...Hope to meet you sometime...

Hello Mr. Burks,
I have been a fan of yours for some time now. While surfing the blues section at Best Buy, I saw your Flying V Smoking on the the cover of "I Smell Smoke". I bought it and well the rest is history. I turned my friend Scott Hill onto your music as well as many others I can reach out to. Please come to the Dallas / Ft Worth area. Scott told me you may play the Dallas Guitar Show and at the Hard Rock Cafe. I hope to be running a camera at the guitar show. I will come out and see you no matter where you are. Your friend in blues!
Thank's for Playing Blues, G.D. " Skip" Newman (lmdnewman@charter.net)
